JOB DESCRIPTION
FREELANCE FRONTEND DEVELOPER

Job Summary

We’re looking for a Freelance Frontend Developer who can jump into projects and deliver high-quality, responsive, and accessible code. This role is perfect for someone who’s comfortable working independently in fast-moving client environments, can follow established design systems, and isn’t afraid of tackling both routine and innovative builds.

Calcium+Company is a leading healthcare marketing agency driving smarter brand engagement through strategy, creativity, data, and technology. Within our Marketing & Innovation hub, the Technology & Experience Design team brings to life digital ideas that connect brands with audiences in meaningful ways—through thoughtfully coded, beautifully designed, and AI-enhanced experiences.

Role Overview

The Freelance Frontend Developer is a contract-based role responsible for transforming design deliverables into production-ready code using modern web technologies. You'll collaborate with internal developers, designers, and strategists on project-based assignments—delivering responsive web pages, landing pages, microsites, emails, CRM assets, and banners optimized for performance and accessibility. Experience with Veeva CRM or IQVIA OCE Personal is a plus.

This is a coder-first role, best suited to a developer who understands design intent and knows how to implement clean, scalable interfaces across browsers and devices. Candidates must be able to jump into existing codebases and deliver against fast-paced project timelines.

Key Job Responsibilities (Duties may include, but are not limited to the following)

Frontend Development
  • Convert design files (Figma, Sketch, XD) into fully responsive, pixel-perfect websites, emails, and digital banners
  • Develop components and templates using HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and vanilla JavaScript
  • Use frameworks such as Bootstrap and/or React for scalable UI builds
  • Optimize for page speed, accessibility (WCAG), and cross-browser performance
  • Develop responsive HTML emails compatible with all major clients and devices
  • Maintain clean, semantic, well-documented code
Workflow & Integration
  • Use Git for version control and collaborative development
  • Implement build automation tasks using Gulp, Grunt, or Webpack where needed
  • QA work across major browsers, screen sizes, and devices
  • Coordinate with internal teams to integrate front-end builds into CMS, CRM, or platform environments
  • Ensure compatibility with platforms such as Veeva CRM or IQVIA OCE Personal when applicable
Communication & Delivery
  • Work with project managers to estimate work, hit deadlines, and flag blockers
  • Ask questions when specs are unclear, and contribute ideas that improve build quality or efficiency
  • Communicate proactively and manage time effectively in a remote, collaborative environment
  • Flexibly pivot between multiple active projects when needed

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on frontend development experience
  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive design principles
  • Familiarity with Bootstrap, React, or similar frameworks
  • Comfortable using Figma and translating design files into code
  • Experience developing for emails, CRM (Veeva, OCE), and digital banners
  • Experience with Gulp, Grunt, Webpack, or similar build tools
  • Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and cross-browser QA
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Able to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote team setting
  • Healthcare or agency experience is a plus but not required

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with Veeva Approved Email or IQVIA OCE CRM deployments
  • Familiarity with Litmus, Email on Acid, or similar email QA tools
  • Experience with CMS environments (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, headless CMS)
  • Exposure to MLR (Medical/Legal/Regulatory) workflows or regulated content review
  • Interest in experimenting with AI tools and emerging technologies
