EDITORIAL SUPERVISOR
The Editorial Supervisor manages a book of business, including several large and small accounts, while supporting the Editorial department's overall management. In addition, the Editorial Supervisor is a dedicated editor on assigned brands and a secondary editor on other brands as needed. The Editorial Supervisor may also support the Director on new business initiatives and Calcium corporate work (advertisements, work for awards shows, social media posts). The Editorial Supervisor understands other roles within the agency and how Editorial interacts with them to ensure collaborative relationships that lead to efficient workflow and error-free tactics. Additionally, the Editorial Supervisor embodies the Calcium+Company ore values of commitment, integrity, and respect in their work and their relationships with their co-workers and external clients.

Job Summary

The Editorial Supervisor may also support the Director on new business initiatives and Calcium corporate work (advertisements, work for awards shows, social media posts). Key Job Responsibilities (Duties may include, but are not limited to all or some of the following)
- Performs all editing/proofreading work on dedicated brands and is the main point of contact between the Editorial department and the internal brand team
- Fact checks materials versus the reference material to ensure accuracy
- Maintains the style guide for each dedicated product
- Supports the Senior and Managing Editors (with the help of the Editorial Director) when specific challenges surface on individual teams
- Assists with and develops resources for the Editorial department when process changes are implemented, or training is needed on Editorial offerings
- Facilitates feedback on timelines and workload with an eye toward optimizing workflow through the department
- Supports the career growth of direct reports and provides performance reviews
- Enforces best practices in the department as well as among internal brand teams
- Facilitates assisting other departments (Copy, in particular) in locating references (performing literature searches in databases such as PubMed), supporting med-legal submissions, and other content-development tasks
- Assists in the procurement of permissions where needed
- Stays up to date on information (such as FDA regulations) that impacts our industry as well as their brands
Job Qualifications (Skills/Requirements)
- BA in English/Communications or a BS in a life sciences field (eg, biology, chemistry)
- 7-10+ years of experience in healthcare advertising or a related industry (medical communications, publishing), with 1-2+ years of managerial experience
- Mastery of the editorial role—strong understanding of copy editing, fact checking, and submissions in the context of pharmaceutical advertising
- Ability to manage a cluster of related accounts and the Managing Editors/Senior Editors working on them
- Ability to estimate time to completion for editorial tasks and work with the Editorial Director to determine staffing needs
- Ability to assess procedures and adjust as needed
- Mastery of AMA 10/11 style
- Knowledge of best practices with respect to med-legal submissions and adherence to FDA regulations
- BELS or AMWA certification (not required, but helpful)
- Goes above and beyond the job description and has the willingness to be flexible for the team, agency, and ultimately the work
