Job Summary

The Senior Medical Director, Publications is a is a core member of the medical team at VitaminMD, responsible for supporting the development of publications to disseminate scientific and clinical data across multiple therapeutic areas and brands. This individual will contribute to development of the overall publication plan, support content development, and guide the broader team in delivering scientifically accurate and strategically aligned communications. The Senior Medical Director, Publications acts as a thought leader, building deep expertise in therapeutic areas, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring the highest standards of scientific integrity in all work.

This role also requires collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and fostering strong client relationships, aligning with Calcium+Company’s core values of commitment, integrity, and respect.
 
Key Job Responsibilities (Duties may include, but are not limited to all or some of the following)
 
  • Support publication development of all types (manuscripts, abstracts, posters, etc.)
  • Independently design, prepare, and review analytical research and disease state-focused materials
  • Oversee and validate the clinical and medical relevance of deliverables to ensure they are scientifically accurate and impactful
  • Ensure alignment of all deliverables with client strategies
  • Provide scientific and strategic leadership across multiple accounts
  • Drive the development of medical strategies and contribute to the overall publication plan/planning process
  • Serve as a key medical point of contact for clients and HCPs, fostering trust and credibility through expertise and communication
  • Present educational and strategic content during client and new business presentations to diverse audiences
  • Support new publication business initiatives by contributing to pitch preparation and client proposals
  • Mentor and guide junior medical team members, including Scientific Associates and Associate Medical Directors, to foster professional growth
  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of work delivered by the team, adhering to agency and client standards
  • Onboard new team members to brand-specific knowledge and agency processes
  • Stay updated on emerging clinical data, industry trends, and guidelines to inform team strategies
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including Account, Strategy, Project Management, and Creative, to integrate medical insights into deliverables
  • Partner with external stakeholders to enhance the relevance and value of the agency’s scientific offerings
  • Identify opportunities to innovate and improve processes within the medical department
 
Job Qualifications (Skills/Requirements)
 
  • MD, PharmD, or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in medical communications, publications, or medical affairs, including leadership roles
  • Strong working knowledge of clinical research principles and familiarity with platforms like PubMed and ClinicalTrials.gov
  • Proven ability to interpret clinical data and provide strategic insights to multidisciplinary teams
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Keynote, and research databases
  • Demonstrated success in managing teams and delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment
